Scanning Spectral Polarimeter (SSP)
The Scanning Spectral Polarimeter is a third generation radiometer that is based on a circular variable filter wheel from 400nm to 4000nm. There are 12 channels, six visible and six Infrared channels. The SSP Instrument package has flown on six major flight programs, has been part of the ARM-UAV program, and the SSP is schedualed to fly on two new platforms in 1998/1999. For further information visit the SSP homepage.
There are currently three version of this radiometer:
- SSP1 - 400nm to 1100nm, 4 channels, 55 samples/channel:
- Spectral Flux (400nm - 2500nm)
- Spectral NFOV Linear Polarization(400nm - 2500nm)
- Spectral NFOV Radiance (400nm - 4000nm)
- Spectral NFOV Linear Polarization (400nm - 2500nm)
- Circular Polarization (400nm - 2500nm)
- Circular Polarization (400nm - 2500nm)
- SSP2 - 400nm to 4000nm, 6 channels, 120 samples/channel:
- Spectral Flux (400nm - 2500nm)
- Broadband Flux (400nm - 2500nm)
- Spectral NFOV Radiance (400nm - 4000nm)
- Broadband NFOV Radiance (400nm - 4000nm)
- Spectral NFOV Linear Polarization(400nm - 2500nm)

Cloud Detection Lidar, (LLNL)
The Cloud Detection Lidar Instrument Package is composed of three instruments: the Cloud Detection Lidar (CDL) and two Wide Field of View (WFOV) cameras. The CDL can be rotated to operate in either a nadir-looking or zenith-looking mode. The WFOV cameras provide imagery to complement the CDL measurements. One camera is fixed at nadir looking and the other at zenith looking. Only one camera may be operational at a time. The CDL Instrument package has been part of the ARM-UAV program and has flown on the ARESE, S96, F96 and F97 flight series.
